Katt WIlliams at the Dodge Feb 1!

KATT WILLIAMS
DODGE THEATRE
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2008

“Katt Williams is one of Hollywood’s most sought after comedians, touted as the next Richard Pryor”
Rolling Stone Magazine

Phoenix, AZ (December 27, 2007) – Katt Williams, widely recognized for his role as “Money Mike” in the hit New Line movie Friday After Next, is currently on a multi-city comedy tour. The tour will make a stop in Phoenix to perform at Dodge Theatre on Friday, February 1. The show will begin at 8:00pm.

Katt Williams’ talent extends over multiple mediums. Known to most for his breakout role in Nick Cannon’s highly-rated MTV improv show, “Wild n’ Out,” the funnyman has appeared in music videos for everyone from Outkast (“Roses”) and Ludacris (“Stand Up” & “Number One Spot”) to E-40 (“One Night Stand”) and Lil’ Kim (“Shut Up/Lighter’s Up”), in addition to landing roles on the small and big screen.

Katt continues to receive stamps of approvals from the urban and mainstream community for his brilliance and ingenuity on screen and on-stage including being named “hottest new comedian” in Rolling Stone Magazine as well as praise from African American comedic icons such as Steve Harvey who says, “He’s one of the hottest comedians in the country.”

In September 2006 HBO aired “Katt Williams: Pimp Chronicles Pt.1,” 60 minutes of hilarious new material from the entertaining comedian taped live in Atlanta with guest appearances from Cam’ron, Lil’ Jon, Snoop Dogg, Andre 3000, Da Brat and Anthony Anderson to name a few. To follow up that success Katt taped the sequel live in Chicago titled, “KATT WILLIAMS: AMERICAN HUSTLE” which was released on DVD on November 20, 2007.

Katt’s prodigious talent seems to know no limits and he’s eager to add the title of ‘Hollywood Actor’ to his repertoire. This past February he lit up the big screen with an unforgettable role in the Eddie Murphy film Norbit (Dreamworks). Katt appears in the newly released romantic comedy, Perfect Holiday (Flavor Unit Productions) featuring Terence Howard, Queen Latifah, Morris Chestnut and Gabrielle Union. In addition Katt will star in the comedy Marshals (Dreamworks) along with co-star Eddie Murphy who will also produce the film.

Switches on tour with the Bravery

Blimey! the Brits do it again!

It's the third British invasion, and we're third time lucky, as Switches sound more Beach Boys than Beatles or Blur. They may come from across the water, but the band's self confessed spiritual home is our own west coast so there're sunny harmonies amongst that London grime!

America Turns on to Switches
“Combining foot-stomping drums and bass with tight vocals and sharp guitar riffs, Switches are as cocksure as their pop piers” - Spin.

“The British indie rising stars have created another Brit Pop hit and are making confident future strides with their Switches Swagger.” - Filter

Switches are a British band with as much swagger as they have top notch pop tunes to offer. With the forthcoming release of their debut album Lay Down The Law (Interscope), out on March 18th 2008 and a US national tour, kicking off in January with The Bravery then making their way to sunny Texas for SXSW, Switches are sure to inject new life into the indie-pop scene for 2008.

Every once in a while, a great British pop band emerges from the gray and gloom that is the United Kingdom. Indeed, Brits may complain about the weather quite a lot but it's the likely culprit responsible for the creation of an array of iconic artists, bands and songs since the birth of pop.Southenders, Switches are no exeption to the rule and are sure to have the same effect as their heroes and rock-forefathers Bowie, ELO and 10cc had before them in the USA.

From Rags to Switches...

MattFront man, Matt grew up in Southend (a low-rent seaside town, something likethe old Asbury Park neighborhood) and formed the band while at college, needing musical allies to take the songs public: seventies-leaning songwriter with a love for ELOand 10cc even though he wasn't born while they reigned, obsessive to thepoint of chaos, finds his harmony in a harmony and his voice when it's intune. He's a fully-fledged Child Of Britpop.
OllieOllie Thomas, guitar: musical wunderkind aspiring to psychedelic-tingedvirtuosity ala Hendrix, but also partial to some tough new wave in theStranglers and Television. Affable and eloquent, he's the calm to Matt'sstorm. ThomThom Kirkpatrick, bass: belt and braces, biscuits and tea, Beatles and BenFolds, particularly English, even for someone from Britain, unsurprising fora man whose great-great-great-great-great grandfather invented the bicycletrue!. SteveSteve Godfrey, drums: drums and more drums: personifies his instrument. Helives to drum, drums to live, learned Appetite For Destruction on pencilsand saucepans so by the time he got his first kit he could play the recordfaultlessly, hasn't stopped since."Switches spectacularly combine all that is good about British indy (newwave bounce, three part harmonies, guitars that 'chug') with all that isgood about US indy (The Pixies, pretty much). We really don't need to remindyou how all-powerful such a record could be." - NME "...jaded indie rock to dance to like disco spastics... "Drama Queen," which features an honest-to-God memorable chorus in a time where it often feels like catchiness has gone out of style. One can almost see the screaming teenage fans, the legions of American popsters that will find their indie rock niche with this accessible-yet-inventive powerpop quartet." - Head Exploder

DONOVAN
“TROUBADOUR”
FIRST EVER ARIZONA PERFORMANCE AT
Orpheum theatre
FEBRUARY 6, 2008

Phoenix, AZ (December 18, 2007) – The legendary folk-rock-pop troubadour Donovan, will play a solo acoustic show at Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday, February 6. This will mark the first time in Donovan’s career that he will perform in Arizona. The show will begin at 7:30 pm.

Donovan Leitch began his career as an itinerant folk musician, creating acoustic hits in 1965 with the gentle “Catch The Wind” and “Colours” and his version of Buffy Sainte Marie’s protest anthem “Universal Soldier” before transforming the pop music landscape with a series of enigmatic and wondrous pop masterpieces that continue to be played on radio and television. From 1966 through 1969, Donovan scored a string of eleven Top 40 hits in a row, including “Mellow Yellow,” “Sunshine Superman,” “Epistle To Dippy,” “There Is A Mountain,” “Wear Your Love Like Heaven,” “Hurdy Gurdy Man,” “Jennifer Juniper,” “Lalena,” “Atlantis,” and “Riki Tiki Tavi.”Donovan was one of the few artists to collaborate on songs with the Beatles, contributing lyrics to the song “Yellow Submarine”. He was also invited by the Beatles to join them at Abbey Road Studios for the final orchestral overdub session for the Lennon-McCartney collaboration “A Day in the Life,” the grand finale of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. He influenced John Lennon and Paul McCartney in their guitar styles during the famous trip to India in 1968 where they first learned Transcendental Meditation and bought it back to the West in a huge way. During his career, Donovan has played with folk music greats Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, and Bob Dylan, as well as rock musicians Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Jeff Beck.
In the past five years, he has completed the successful album Beat Café; a new box set, Try for the Sun: The Journey of Donovan; and a book, The Autobiography of Donovan: The Hurdy Gurdy Man (Arrow Books). Donovan also fulfilled his 40-year interest in Transcendental Meditation by heading up the musical wing of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace.

This year Donovan celebrates his 40th anniversary of his trip to India with the Beatles where they studied transcendental mediation and bought it back to the West.

Paul Potts 'Britain's Got Talent' Winner plays Mesa Arts Center

Opera Extraordinaire and
'Britain's Got Talent' Winner
Paul Potts
Mesa Arts Center
March 27, 2008

Phoenix, AZ (December 11, 2007) – International opera sensation Paul Potts will perform in concert at the Ikeda Theater in Mesa on Thursday, March 27. The show will begin at 7:30 P.M.
Potts, 37, transformed himself from a mobile phone salesman to a rising star after winning the hit UK show 'Britain's Got Talent.' Now, with over 30 million hits, the video of his soaring first audition is among the most-watched videos ever on YouTube. Potts has overcome many financial, physical and emotional hardships that preceded his triumph on the show. Already beloved around the globe, the singer is now bringing his inspirational story and music to the U.S. with the release of 'One Chance.'Bullied as a child, suffering financial difficulties as an adult and experiencing a devastating bicycle accident in 2003, Potts always found solace in opera, but a lack of self-confidence kept him from pursuing the career path of his hero Pavarotti. Yet in feeling that singing was what he was born to do, Potts mustered the courage and stood awkwardly before the judges of Britain's acclaimed reality TV show, including American Idol's Simon Cowell, at his March audition. When asked what he was there for, Potts stated matter-of-factly, "to sing opera" and was immediately met with questioning stares. But when Potts launched into an unexpected, soaring rendition of "Nessun Dorma," he reduced many in the audience to tears and made believers of all who have seen the performance since. Click here to watch the audition.'One Chance' debuted at the top of the European charts when it was released in July. Critics hailed the U.S release of the album on September 18th. "Paul Potts can hold his own with the 'gods' of the High C's!" enthused BlogCritics.

Matchbox Twenty comes to Phoenix!

“EXILE IN AMERICA”:
** MATCHBOX TWENTY **
RETURNING TO THE ROAD
FOR FIRST CROSS-COUNTRY TOUR IN OVER FOUR YEARS
WITH ALANIS MORISSETTE
CRICKET WIRELESS PAVILION
MARCH 17, 2008

Phoenix, AZ (December 11, 2007) - Melisma/Atlantic recording group MATCHBOX TWENTY has announced their first North American concert tour in over four years. The cross-country “Exile In America” itinerary will also feature special guests Alanis Morissette and MUTEMATH. The tour will stop in Phoenix at Cricket Wireless Pavilion on Monday, March 17. The show will begin at 7:00pm.

“We’re all completely pumped about getting back together and heading out on the road after all this time, especially since we have a bunch of new songs to play for everyone,” said vocalist Rob Thomas. “And we’re thrilled to be joined by the brilliant Alanis Morissette and the fantastic New Orleans band MUTEMATH. It’s going to be a great show, and we can’t wait to get out there.”

"I can't wait to share some new songs, connect with people around North America again, and join Matchbox Twenty’s traveling circus,” shared Alanis Morissette. “So psyched!"

MATCHBOX TWENTY last toured in 2003, wrapping up their SRO global itinerary in December of that year. The tour, which earned acclaim from coast to coast and around the globe, was highlighted by sold-out shows at three of the world’s premier rock venues – New York’s Madison Square Garden, London’s Wembley Arena, and Los Angeles’ Staples Center. MATCHBOX TWENTY reunited two years later for two sold-out New Year’s shows in Las Vegas. The 2008 dates will mark the band’s first tour as a four-piece, with Paul Doucette shifting from drummer to guitarist in the band line-up – which also includes vocalist Rob Thomas, guitarist Kyle Cook, and bassist Brian Yale.

The announcement of MATCHBOX TWENTY’s return to the concert trail follows the release of the band’s new album, EXILE ON MAINSTREAM, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, while also premiering at #1 on SoundScan’s Current Alternative Albums chart. This marked the biggest first week of the year for a greatest hits collection, with the #3 premiere also matching the group’s previous highest Billboard 200 debut, 2000’s Mad Season.

TICKETS ON-SALE MONDAY, DECEMBER 17 AT 10AM
Reserved tickets priced at $70.00, $53.50, $33.50 and $24.00 will go on-sale Monday, December 17 at 10am at Cricket Wireless Pavilion Box Office (10am-5pm), http://www.eveningstarproductions.com/ and all Ticketmaster outlets. A venue parking fee, applicable taxes, service and handling charges may be applied. To charge by phone, call 480.784.4444 (Phoenix Metro Area) or 520.321.1000 (Outside Phoenix Area). All dates, acts, and ticket prices are subject to change without notice. All tickets are subject to applicable taxes, and service and handling charges. For more show information, check out http://www.ticketmaster.com/.

A look back and a look ahead, EXILE ON MAINSTREAM features the smash single and video, “How Far We’ve Come.” The first album from the group in five years, it combines a six-track EP of new songs, marking the band’s first work with Grammy winning producer Steve Lillywhite, with a retrospective of the band’s greatest hits culled from their three previous albums, produced by Grammy winner Matt Serletic.

MATCHBOX TWENTY has sold some 30 million records to date. They were named Best New Band in the 1997 Rolling Stone Readers Poll, and followed the RIAA Diamond Award success of their 1996 breakthrough debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, with two more multi-platinum sets – 2000’s Mad Season and 2002’s More Than You Think You Are. Among their many accolades are five Grammy nominations and three American Music Award nominations, while vocalist and songwriter Rob Thomas has earned three Grammy Awards, 11 BMI Awards, and has been twice named Billboard Songwriter of the Year.

Since 1995 Alanis Morissette has become one of the most influential singer-songwriter-musicians in contemporary music. Her deeply expressive music and performances have earned vast critical praise, seven Grammy Awards, and a dedicated fan base that extends throughout the world, with album sales exceeding 40 million. Morissette’s 1995 debut, Jagged Little Pill, was followed by such eclectic and acclaimed albums as Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998), MTV Unplugged (1999), Under Rug Swept (2002), So-Called Chaos (2004), Jagged Little Pill Acoustic (2005), her greatest hits album, The Collection (2005), as well as musical contributions to theatrical releases. She is currently putting the finishing touches on her new studio album, Flavors Of Entanglement, which will be released in 2008 on Maverick Records. In addition, Morissette recently announced her first lead film role as “Sylvia” in the film adaptation of Philip K Dick's novel “Radio Free Albemuth.”

It’s a daunting task to describe the sound of Nashville-based quartet MUTEMATH. Their self-titled Teleprompt/Warner Bros. record album debut draws from an eclectic confluence of influences and styles that form some kind of intelligent, melodic rock music that feels both familiar and brand new at the same time. Alternative Press magazine recently named MUTEMATH the “#1 Band You Need To See Live Before You Die.” The band’s recent live television appearances on Letterman, Conan, Kimmel, and Ferguson have blown minds and made lasting impressions. This will be the band’s most extensive tour to date.

Phoenix (November 30, 2007) – Cross Canadian Ragweed, the Oklahoma quartet that has been pushing it to the metal for 13 years will bring its show to Martini Ranch on Friday, January 18 at 8:00 pm.

Cross Canadian Ragweed – Cody Canada (frontman), Grady Cross (guitarist), Jeremy Plato (bassist) and Randy Ragsdale (drummer) recently released their 4th studio album titled MISSION CALIFORNIA, from Universal Records South. The album charted at #6 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart and #30 on the Billboard Top 100 Chart. MISSION CALIFORNIA came in just behind superstars Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn and Kenny Chesney with scans of 22,604 its first week.

Cross Canadian Ragweed has played a string of sold out shows drawing crowds of up to 10,000 and 15,000 people a night. Clearly embraced by country music fans, the band and Mission California are earning high praise from tough critics. USA Today claims the band “…is one of the better-kept secrets around.”

PARAMOUNT’S ORIGINAL LASERSPECTACULAR FEATURING THE MUSIC OF PINK FLOYD

Live Nation, 93.3 KDKB and 100.7 KSLX are very proud to announce the return of

PARAMOUNT’S ORIGINAL LASERSPECTACULAR FEATURING THE MUSIC OF PINK FLOYD

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2008
DODGE THEATRE

Phoenix (November 26, 2007) – Paramount’s LaserSpectacular, the smash hit multi-media laser and light show featuring the music of Pink Floyd will once again illuminate Dodge Theatre. The LaserSpectacular show presented locally by 93.3 KDKB and 100.7 KSLX will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 8:00pm.

After 23 years of touring, Paramount's LaserSpectacular has become a cult classic, presenting the music of Pink Floyd like you’ve never seen it before. Surrounded by 10,000 watts of concert quality sound, Pink Floyd’s musical legacy continues as the bands concept music captures the imagination and carries listeners away on a mind-expanding journey driven by cutting edge effects. Colorful lasers and lighting effects parallel the sonic journey as the senses are confronted with an array of glowing visual displays choreographed to the soundtrack during the 2 hour and 20 minute show.

“Pink Floyd’s music is very dramatic and visual,” says Paramount’s LaserSpectacular Producer Steve Monistere. “You can see or imagine images when you listen to their music. Without any lighting effects at all, there is still a show in your mind. Now imagine using lasers, lighting, video and other special visual effects to interpret what your mind is ‘seeing’ and that is why people love this show so much”.

Through the use of jaw-dropping new technologies a visual evolution unfolds as solid lines of light wash the room with color, animated neon figures are set in motion, a giant inflatable comes to life and laser beams bounce and glide through the open air, crafting images, such as a soaring eagle that flies over the crowd. During the song “Learning To Fly,” you’ll see a psychedelic, rotating lighting gobo with images of the history of flight, from the Wright Brothers all the way to the Space Shuttle. During “Comfortably Numb” 3-D animation reveal the song’s storyline of a rock star struggling to “make it to the show.” Brand new 3-D imagery used in the show actually has dimension and can be see from all sides! Finally, Paramount’s best laserists pull out all the stops and bombard you with EVERYTHING in their bag of visual tricks for the shows finale, “Run Like Hell.” Special prism glasses multiply the fun, making 1 image become six. Three 30-foot screens wall the experience.

Every year Paramount incorporates new elements into the show, so expect new features. For details on the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular go to www.laserspectacular.com.

TICKETS ON-SALE MONDAY, DECEMBER 3 AT 10 A.M.
Tickets priced at $25.00 will include special 3-D glasses to enjoy the show. Tickets will go on-sale at 10 A.M. on Monday, December 3 at Dodge Theatre Box Office, www.livenation.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. To charge by phone, call 480.784.4444 (Phoenix Metro Area) or 520.321.1000 (Outside Phoenix Area). All dates, acts, and ticket prices are subject to change without notice. CHRIS BOTTI CONCERT - SAT., DEC. 8th

Phoenix, AZ – Sanderson Music Series presents CHRIS BOTTI in concert at the intimate Celebrity Theatre at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 8th.

Trumpeter CHRIS BOTTI is a gifted instrumentalist, a talented composer, and a charismatic performer who--since the release of his first solo album in 1995--has created a series of recordings which have made him a virtual genre-of-one in the realm of contemporary jazz. Botti has earned both critical acclaim and mainstream appreciation for a succession of best-selling albums including When I Fall In Love (2004, #1 Top Jazz Album, #37 Billboard Top 200), To Love Again: The Duets (2005, #1 Top Jazz Album, #18 Billboard Top 200), and Chris Botti Live with Orchestra & Special Guests (2006, #2 Top Jazz Album).

Botti’s latest release, Italia, is inspired by the sounds and atmosphere of Italy. The collection’s vibrant and sensual set of performances are drawn from sources ranging from classical opera to the soundtracks of Ennio Morricone. Recorded in the United States, England, and Italy, Italia is a brilliant showcase for Botti's musical versatility. The album includes the newly composed title track featuring the passionate vocals of renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, as well as a new interpretation of "The Very Thought of You" with guest vocalist Paula Cole. In another of the album's duets, Botti adds his touch to a vocal performance originally recorded in 1957 by the "forever cool" Dean Martin on "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face," a song first written for "My Fair Lady."

Travis on 11.25 Moved to the Marquee Theater

TRAVIS WITH SPECIAL GUEST MAXIMO PARK
ON NOVEMBER 25
WILL NOW BE AT
MARQUEE THEATRE

The Travis concert with special guest Maximo Park originally scheduled for Sunday, November 25, at Celebrity Theatre has been moved to the Marquee Theatre (730 N. Mill Ave).
The show will begin at 7:30 pm.

All tickets purchased for Celebrity Theatre will be honored at Marquee Theatre on the night of the show.

Travis's fifth album, The Boy With No Name is a record that will remind people how the four friends from Glasgow came to be one of the UK's biggest and best loved bands. A band Chris Martin recently admitted "invented" Coldplay. A band that’s sold millions of albums and that headlines festivals. A band that’s won the Brit for Best British Group twice and whose second album 'The Man Who', was bought by one in eight British households.

Simply put, The Boy With No Name is a belting collection of bittersweet pop songs from the band who do bittersweet pop music better than anyone. It's no exaggeration to say that every song - including the velcro-catchy bonus track - is a potential single.

The Section Quartet

THE LOUDEST STRING QUARTET ON THE PLANET
PERFORMING AT THE RHYTHM ROOM
JANUARY 16, 2008

The show will include selections from FUZZBOX and a performance of
Radiohead's OK COMPUTER in its entirety.

Phoenix, AZ (November 16, 2007)- Formed on the principles of rock & roll, The Section Quartet (TSQ) fuses the worlds of classical and rock by tearing down the wall that divides the two genres. Simply put- The Section Quartet rocks! The show will make a stop in Phoenix to perform at the Rhythm Room on Wednesday, January 16. The show will begin at 7:30 pm with a soon to announced special guest.

Eric Gorfain (founder/arranger/violinist), Daphne Chen (arranger/violinist), Richard Dodd (cello) and Leah Katz (viola) complete the talented quartet. In 1998, they emerged in Los Angeles as a recording entity with a dual purpose: to function as a string “section” on other artists’ albums, and to take the rock string quartet to the highest level. Since that time, the band has studio and stage collaboration credits with major artists and producers from multiple genres including; Cristina Aguilera, Fiona Apple , David Bowie, Dave Grohl, Grant-Lee Phillips and Maroon 5 to name a few.

The band is perhaps best-known for their innovative, self-arranged renditions of Radiohead’s OK Computer and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. They also had the honor of performing at the much buzzed about Coachella Music Festival twice. Of their live shows, LA Weekly stated; “the fragile strains of the violin are enough to prompt open weeping in several spectators” and The Los Angeles Times thought the “arrangements proved entertainingly spirited and accomplished.”

On August 21, 2007 the band released their major label Decca debut Fuzzbox. In the CD the quartet showcases kinetic arrangements, bold performance style and an eclectic repertoire. The CD features The Section Quartet’s unique arrangements of songs from some of the most popular alternative and indie-rock acts around including; Radiohead, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age and Yeah Yeah Yeahs to name a few. This album promises to deliver all of the intensity and power of the original songs by melding the elements of rock with classical instruments in a way that produces an explosively energetic listening experience. “We like to think of ourselves as a rock band that just happens to play string instruments. Attitude, that’s what we bring to the table,” noted Eric Gorfain.

The Strokes’ “Juicebox” opens the album with a thundering bassline that takes hold of the listener and won’t let go… a true rock journey is about to ensue. Other stand-out tracks, Led Zepplin’s “Heartbreaker” and Queens of the Stone Age’s “No One Knows” stand on their own as impressive hard-rocking tributes, and their version of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” proves to be massive. TSQ also worked with producer Jon Brion on an incredible cover of “Phenomena” (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and the bonus cut “Teardrop (Massive Attack). Of the album, Gorfain stated; “We made it dirty when it needed to be, ugly when it needed to be, which made it bigger and better and fatter.”

Stanley Clarke @ Martini Ranch

STANLEY CLARKE
MARTINI RANCH
JANUARY 23, 2008

Phoenix, AZ (October 31, 2007) - Stanley Clarke, one of the most innovative electric bass players of the past three decades will make a stop in Scottsdale to perform at Martini Ranch on Wednesday, January 23. The show will begin at 7:30 pm.

Bassist Stanley Clarke was barely out of his teens when he exploded into the jazz world in 1971. Fresh out of the Philadelphia Academy of Music, he arrived in New York City and immediately landed jobs with famous bandleaders such as Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Pharaoh Saunders, Gil Evans, Stan Getz and a budding young pianist-composer named Chick Corea.

In 1972 Clarke and Corea formed the seminal electric jazz/fusion band Return To Forever. RTF was a showcase for each of the quartet’s strong musical personalities, composing prowess and instrumental voices. The band recorded eight albums, two of which were certified gold (Return To Forever and the classic Romantic Warrior). They also won a GRAMMY (No Mystery) and received numerous nominations while touring incessantly.

At 25, Clarke was already regarded as a pioneer in the jazz fusion movement. He was also the first bassist in history to double on acoustic and electric bass with equal virtuosity, power and fire. In his ongoing efforts to push the bass to new limits, he invented two new instruments, the piccolo bass and the tenor bass. The piccolo bass is tuned one octave higher than the traditional electric bass. The tenor bass is tuned one fourth higher than standard. Both of these instruments have enabled Clarke to extend his melodic range to higher and more expressive registers.

Clarke’s creativity has been recognized and rewarded in every way imaginable: gold and platinum records, GRAMMY Awards, Emmy Awards, virtually every readers and critics poll in existence, and more. He was Rolling Stone’s very first Jazzman of the Year, and bassist winner of Playboy’s Music Award for ten straight years.

Always in search of new challenges, Clarke turned his boundless creative energy to film and television scoring in the mid-1980s. Starting on the small screen with an Emmy-nominated score for Pee Wee’s Playhouse, he transitioned to the silver screen as composer, orchestrator, conductor and performer of scores for such blockbuster films as Boyz ‘N the Hood, What’s Love Got To Do With It?, Little Big League, Passenger 57, Poetic Justice, The Five Heartbeats, Romeo Must Die, The Transporter and Roll and Bounce. He even scored Remember the Time, a Michael Jackson video directed by Jon Singleton. His scoring can currently be heard on the series Lincoln Heights for the ABC Family Network.

On October 16, 2007 Clarke released The Toys of Men. It is a 13-track CD that examines the emotional sweep of war, and features guest appearances by vocalist/bassist Esperanza Spalding, percussionist Paulinho da Costa.
