MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK, THE HUSH SOUND AND PHANTOM PLANET CONFIRMED AS SUPPORT ACTS
Access to Special Pre-sale Tickets Beginning Jan. 30 Can Be Found On www.hondacivictour.com
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24

/PRNewswire/ -- For the past seven years, the Honda Civic Tour (HCT) has been acclaimed as a "must see" music tour, and this year is no exception. Following the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Pretty. Odd., on March 25, Panic At The Disco will be ready to take the wheel as 2008 HCT headliners. They begin their nationwide tour April 10 in San Francisco at the Warfield (see all dates below). Panic will be joined on the annual spring outing by Motion City Soundtrack, The Hush Sound and Phantom Planet.
Honda Civic Tour general on-sale begins Feb. 2 in select cities. Beginning Jan. 30, fans will have a chance to scoop up be pre-sale tickets by visiting www.hondacivictour.com.
"Last year we actually did a spur-of-the-moment acoustic set at the Vegas date of the Civic Tour," said Ryan Ross of Panic At The Disco. "So it's awesome to be playing every show this year."
A key perk of the HCT headlining gig is the opportunity to customize a Honda Civic Hybrid that's subsequently won by an extremely lucky fan. Panic At The Disco unveiled their one-of-a-kind creation at a press event held at American Honda headquarters earlier this month. This special car -- which has been autographed by the band, making it the ultimate in memorabilia -- will be showcased at each stop along the HCT, where concertgoers can enter to win it. Starting in February, fans will also be able to register for a shot at Panic's green machine by visiting www.hondacivictour.com. No purchase is necessary to enter. Entry is limited to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia 18 years or older.
This year's Honda Civic Tour is rolling out an environmental action plan in which tickets themselves will equal action: For every Honda Civic Tour Panic At The Disco ticket purchased, $1 will go into a fund designated for nonprofit tour partners Reverb and Global Inheritance. Selected by Panic At The Disco, Reverb (a leader in the "greening" of concert tours) and Global Inheritance (a champion of progressive causes with a tight connection to youth subcultures) are collaborating to engage audiences in fun, fan-friendly, interactive exhibits during the tour. Additionally, this collective will make a substantial contribution -- in the name of The 2008 Honda Civic Tour with Panic At The Disco -- to a cause to be determined by the end of the tour. The beneficiary will be selected on merit and its potential to have a lasting impact on the generation-defining environmental movement.
Panic at the Disco
Their upcoming release, "Pretty. Odd." was recorded in Las Vegas' Studio at the Palms, with additional production and mixing at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios in London. Produced by Grammy and Emmy Award-nominated arranger/composer Rob Mathes, the album sees Panic At The Disco embracing a melodic, classic rock-inspired aesthetic while still maintaining the visionary pop modernism that made its debut among the new millennium's most popular and successful releases. The album will be heralded by the first single, "Nine In The Afternoon," which is slated to impact at radio outlets nationwide later this month and will go on sale digitally on Jan. 29. In addition, a companion video clip -- directed by Shane Drake, who also helmed the band's 2006 MTV Video Music Award-winning Video of the Year, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" -- will have its world premiere shortly.
Motion City Soundtrack
Motion City Soundtrack (Epitaph Records) perfect their trademark blend of indie rock riffs, bittersweet melodies, driving synths, and droll-yet-earnest lyrics on Even If It Kills Me, out now. Produced in parts by the duo of Fountain of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger & Girls vs Boys' Eli Janney, and by pop- rock legend Ric Ocasek, Even If It Kills Me is a heartfelt examination of the human condition, at turns both comic and tragic. Contagiously clever, buoyantly catchy, and featuring the instantly memorable single "This Is For Real," Even If It Kills Me is the year's most anticipated record.
The Hush Sound
Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen band The Hush Sound will release Goodbye Blues, their follow up to 2006's Like Vines, on March 18. Produced by Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids), the album is the Chicago-based band's most ambitious work to date, a mature and masterful album which displays its distinctive gift for melding emotional depth, intellectual vigor, and catchy pop buoyancy. Goodbye Blues will first be available for pre-orders on the band's website, www.thehushsound.com, beginning January 29th. Fans who preorder the album will receive an exclusive digital download of the album's first single, "Honey." In addition, Fueled By Ramen webstore customers who pre-order Panic At The Disco's upcoming album, Pretty. Odd. will receive a limited $2 discount applicable to the purchase of Goodbye Blues.
"I can't wait to get back on the road with Panic again," said Greta Salpeter of The Hush Sound. "The 2006 tour with them was my favorite tour we've done and this Honda Civic Tour is looking to be even better. We are all psyched to start playing new songs from Goodbye Blues. We'll see YOU there!"
Phantom Planet
Los Angeles-based band Phantom Planet has joined the Fueled By Ramen family for their fourth full-length collection. Produced by Tony Berg (Aimee Mann, Pete Yorn, Nickel Creek), the power-pop combo's label debut, "RAISE THE DEAD," is set for release on April 15. The band has earned a reputation as a hard-touring live act, traveling the globe as both headline act and as support to such artists as Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Guided By Voices, Travis, Pete Yorn, the Vines, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Donnas, Incubus, and Rilo Kiley. A 4 song digital EP -- previously only available as a physical CD on their recent tour with Maroon 5 and, later, the Fueled By Ramen webstore until all copies sold out in a matter of weeks -- is being released wide on January 29. The band can also be found on tastemaker DJ/producer Mark Ronson's latest single, "Just" (featuring Phantom Planet) -- a brilliant reconfiguration of the Radiohead classic. For more information about Phantom Planet, visit their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/phantomplanet
