CHICAGO & THE DOOBIE BROTHERS
WILL JOIN FORCES FOR A NIGHT OF ENTERTAINMENT AT DODGE THEATRE
JUNE 3, 2008

TICKETS ON- SALE MONDAY, MARCH 24 AT 10AM!

Phoenix, AZ (March 18, 2008) – Two of America’s longest running and most respected classic rock bands, Chicago and The Doobie Brothers will join forces for a performance at Dodge Theatre on Tuesday, June 3. The show will begin at 7:30pm. As is the band’s tradition, Chicago will create a special encore featuring both bands performing onstage together – the kind of powerhouse musical finale for which Chicago is famous.

Chicago, the rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois is one of the longest running and most successful U.S. pop/rock and roll groups. They have received many accolades including a Grammy Award, multiple American Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Chicago street dedicated in their honor, and keys to and proclamations from an impressive list of US cities. They have had record sales top the 100,000,000 mark, and include 21 Top 10 singles, 5 consecutive Number One albums, 5 Number One singles, 13 Platinum albums and 5 Gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 30 albums have been certified platinum, and Chicago is the first American band to chart Top 40 albums in five decades. This past November, founding members Robert Lamm and Jimmy Pankow were named as candidates for inclusion in the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

Rhino Records is readying the long-awaited Chicago album, Stone of Sisyphus, the great unreleased album that has been an underground fan favorite for nearly 15 years. The release will feature bonus tracks and new liner notes. Rhino is also releasing a limited edition box set of 7” singles, which is a cool nod to the band’s history, both as hit makers and as champions of innovative album packaging. Last October, Rhino issued the Best of Chicago: 40th Anniversary Edition, a hits package that remains a top seller. Also of continuing interest is Chicago XXX, the band’s excellent 2006 album, produced by Jay DeMarcus of superstar country group Rascal Flatts.

In May, Chicago will tape a special edition of A&E’s “Private Sessions”, a new program that takes an intimate look at top musicians through performance and conversations. Chicago is set to perform five classic hits.

The Doobie Brothers are one of the very few American musical groups that have been able to achieve a phenomenal level of success and sustain it for a period of time measured in decades; it is a success that has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. This includes: multiple Grammy awards, 27 chart singles, 16 top 40 hits (including two number 1s), 11 multi-platinum albums, 13 Gold albums and that most rare of distinctions, The Diamond Award, for the sale of 10 million units of a single title, Best Of The Doobies: Vol. 1. Combined with their consistent appeal on the road, The Doobies have earned a fanatical loyalty for their high-energy shows, and are truly one of America's most loved rock and roll bands.

Over the years, The Doobie Brothers’ music has evolved from a country/blues base into a sound emphasizing everything from R&B and Jazz elements, to guitar fueled rockers like “China Grove” and “Long Train Running,” to the folky chart topper “Black Water.” They have continually defied categorization, while maintaining their signature sound. Forever in pace with the American Spirit, The Doobie Brothers will continue to rock well into the future.
