Jazz Saxophonist CANDY DULFER Sat., Apr. 12th

PHOENIX, AZ – The Sanderson Ford Lincoln Mercury Music Series presents premiere jazz saxophonist DANDY DULFER and band on Saturday, April 12th at the intimate Celebrity Theatre. Special guest NICK COLIONNE starts the show at 8 p.m.

For nearly two decades, Dutch-born saxophonist Candy Dulfer has been mesmerizing audiences with the combination punch of jaw-dropping performances, show-stopping musicianship and eye-popping sex appeal. Thundering out of the gate in 1990 with the million-plus-seller and Grammy-nominated debut album, Saxuality, she has since crafted a string of fine recordings and has worked alongside an impressive list of collaborators: Prince, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Maceo Parker, Van Morrison, Beyonce, Pink Floyd, Aretha Franklin, Joey DeFrancesco and many others.
Dulfer was brought into the limelight by Prince, who introduced her to the world via his video for "Partyman." Her appearances with Prince led to session work with Eurythmics guitarist/producer Dave Stewart, who gave Dulfer a credit on "Lily Was Here," which reached number six in the U.K. and number one on the Dutch radio charts in 1990. Dulfer’s father, Hans Dulfer, is a respected tenor saxophonist, and her mother, Inge, is her manager.

Smooth jazz guitarist “on the funky side” NICK COLIONNE opens the show. Colionne recently singed with Koch Records and is set to release “No Limits” this spring or early summer. Previous hits include “Always Thinking of You,” “High Flyin” and “It’s Been Too Long.” His sustained chart-topping radio history combined with his incredible live performances have propelled him to the upper echelons of smooth jazz stardom. Most recently, he won the International Instrumental Artist of the Year Award by the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards.
